New Year, New Look… New Website!

We decided to ring in the new year with a bang by launching a redesigned corporate website.

Take a look at the site’s new LAVA timeline that highlights key moments in the company’s history. Today, LAVA is best known for its SimulCharge and Battery Modulation technologies, but the company has had a long and varied past.

Did you know, for example, that before he started LAVA , founder Roman Wynnyckyj ran Orange Computers, a company that built Apple II-compatible computers? Or that once upon a time, LAVA’s core business was UART cards, which helped computers use dial-up modems?

Started in December of 1984, LAVA initially made a multifunction board for the IBM PC but then branched out into various other products over the years. Some of these products included Ethernet cards, Arcnet boards, graphics cards, parallel and serial boards.

The company has also transitioned much of its business to the mobile device market, with its Enterprise and Home series SimulCharge adapters, which provide simultaneous charging and access to data. These adapters come in a variety of configurations and include such features as Power over Ethernet (which provides power and a network connection over the same Ethernet cable), Battery Modulation technology (which protects the mobile device’s battery from overcharging and bloating) and multiple USB-A ports for peripherals.

Check out the new website to find out more about the company’s past and what products LAVA has to offer.

Thank you Irene!

LAVA’s Controller Irene Sirko is Retiring

Irene started with the company back in December 2008, having previously worked as an accountant and as a management consultant. She has worked for insurance and automotive companies, the University of Waterloo and the Ontario government.

Over the years at LAVA, Irene helped to refine the accounting information processes and handled a myriad of projects, including government grants, international regulatory reporting and property management.

Now that she is retiring, Irene says she will have more time to focus on her passion for stone sculpting. She will continue to be involved with the not-for-profit Ukrainian Art Song Project, which aims to have Ukrainian Art Song recognized on the international stage. She may also do some management consulting and accounting in the future.

Irene says what she’ll miss most about LAVA is the people. We’ll miss her too and wish her all the best of luck in her future endeavours.

What’s Inside the eSynC-P1UE?

A Deeper Look into LAVA’s Custom PoE Adapter!

The eSynC-P1UE is a SimulCharge adapter designed for select USB-C Samsung mobile devices that features Power over Ethernet (PoE) and LAVA’s signature Network Recovery & Battery Modulation (RBM) technology. It comes with three ports:

1) An Ethernet port which provides a reliable wired network connection and PoE.

2) 1 USB 2.0 (Type-A) power only port for a peripheral, that delivers up to 5 volts at 1 Amp to a peripheral.

3) 1 USB-C port to connect the adapter to the mobile device.

4) A Micro USB-B auxiliary power port, to power the mobile device and adapter if PoE is unavailable. Using the Micro USB port, the adapter can be powered from a standard 5-volt (2-Amp) power supply.

Never Miss a Beat, with Tablet-Based PoE

Always Stay Connected and Powered with New Docking Detect Technology and Power over Ethernet!

At LAVA, we continue to innovate and as we release new products some of our older ones become obsolete. Here is a look at the STS-P2UE – one of our earliest SimulCharge adapters, which provided simultaneous charging and data for Micro USB Samsung tablets. It has since become a legacy product, with the release of the nSTS-P2UE.

The STS-P2UE featured Power over Ethernet (PoE), Ethernet and had two USB-A ports for peripherals. PoE allows network data and electrical power to be carried over an Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for an electrician to install a dedicated power drop. It also allows the adapter to be placed up to 328 ft (100 m) from its power source. The two USB-A ports can be used for a variety of peripherals, such as a printer and scanner.

Its replacement, the nSTS-P2UE boasts all the same features, but also includes Docking Detect, which is a technology that ensures the “greeting” protocols between the adapter and mobile device are executed correctly and consistently every time they are connected. This results in a more reliable connection.

You can find out more about the discontinued STS-P2UE in our new legacy adapter section: https://lavalink.com/lavasimulcharge/product/sts-p2ue/
